The Aaron Douglas Art Fair, inspired by the completion of the Aaron Douglas Celebration Mural, has been an annual event since 2006. The Fair was created to provide a one-day classic art fair environment to showcase diverse and emerging artists, to celebrate community and to continue the legacy of world-renowned Topeka-born artist Aaron Douglas. The fair is fully organized by a dynamic, all volunteer-run board and assisting community volunteers. Admission and all activities are free. Each year there are 30 to 50 artist booths selectively chosen by our Art Director our main stage with live music, our Legacy Stage in front of the Aaron Douglas mural highlighting an assortment of diverse artistic performances, our Kids Zone tent offering art activities geared towards children, an interactive art activity for all fair-goers, and food booths hosted by neighborhood groups offering a variety of food options for sale.

2019 is our 14th year of celebrating the arts and the memory of Mr. Aaron Douglas. Since the first fair in 2006, the art fair's influence and popularity continues to grow as we see an ever increasing number of returning patrons and folks experiencing the Fair for the first time.

Planning for the Fair is a year round process led by a group of folks from a multitude of backgrounds who share a mutual appreciation of the arts and dedication to supporting and empowering burgeoning artists throughout the Topeka community. Aaron Douglas Art Fair committee is proud to bring such a unique and fun-filled day to the Capital City. We invite you to yet another year of celebrating the arts and will see you September 28, 2019, from 10 am to 5 pm at the Aaron Douglas Art park located at 12th and Lane, just behind Grace Med.
