Today, ranchers in the Flint Hills burn their pastures in the spring, to increase the nutritional value of the grass that their cattle graze upon. The Chase County Prairie Fire Festival celebrates this tradition with art, music, fascinating speakers who describe the traditions of the Flint Hills and, of course, food!.
